bw my review

Shine with Me splendidly and wonderfully ended the Captivated Series.

In this final book of the series, the story got more serious as they prepare to be at war with Lilliana, a witch that had kidnapped Kat and Gabe’s friends. As they construct a plan to defeat the dark conjurer, they had discovered that she was stronger than what they had thought. Some of them might have a gift, but it’s not enough to fight her, especially when more dark creatures started joining her army.

This book was very simple, and it was easy to read. It might be a little predictable, but I can guarantee you that you’ll still be able to enjoy this novel. There were even some twists that you don’t expect to happen, and there were still some exciting scenes to see.

Another reason why I like this book was that it does not only show the love between Kat and Gabe, but it also shows the love between friends and family. It was a three-in-one kind of story, and it did not only focus on one thing.

My favorite part was, of course, their fight with Lilliana. It was both enjoyable and spine-tingling. It made me sit on the edge of my seat. It made me smile, and it also made sad at the same time.

The characters development was also good. What happened to them was very life-changing, especially when they were only teenagers when they had those encounters with dark conjurers. I’ve watched them grow-up and became brave in their own way. They sometimes looked vulnerable, but hope wasn’t taken from them. They believed that darkness will never win even if they knew they had no chance against Lilliana.

The ending though made me mad because it’s a clue for what the upcoming series will be about. It made me excited to find out how it’ll turn out.

Overall, this novel didn’t just make me enjoy reading it, but it also captivated my heart. I am recommending this book if you want something good to read. An easy and simple story yet full of lessons will surely make you engage in reading it.
