Happy Saturday!
Last week, I started my first post regarding the Top 5 Series that Mandy from Devouring Books began back in October and in which she continues now. This is a series where I will need to list five books that either I’ve read or want to read based on a given theme each week.
RULES:
- Share your top 5 books of the current topic – these can be books that you want to read, have read and loved, have read and hated, you can do it any way you want.
- Tag the original post
- Tag 5 people
The theme for this day is books with road trips. When I think about road trips, I think of adventure or anything that has something to do with always having to ride in one place to another. Listed below are the books that I want to read in the future, and also book that I already read.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan [GR]
I already read this and the other books in the series. And I loved this book! This has a road trip wherein the characters are looking for something, so they need to travel from one place to another.
You Are Here by Jennifer E. Smith [GR]
I still haven’t read any books by Jennifer E. Smith, but I like to read this book written by her.
How My Summer Went Up in Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski [GR]
I have a physical copy of this book, and until now, it was placed on the TBR piles that I have near my bed. I’m hoping to read it because I’m planning to give it soon to one of my friends to read.
Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett [GR]
I am interested in reading this one based on its description. I think I’ll enjoy it based on the reviews it has. And it also has pretty cover which makes me want it more.
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness [GR]
I was able to get a copy of this on Book Sale, a store in our country where you can get affordable books, and most of it is already a used copy but still in good condition. As for the copy I got, it was still like new, and it only cost me around $2! Thanks to Pam, for finding it hahaha!
And those are the books that I’ve read, and I want to read that has a road trip on it. If you’re going to also share your top 5 for this day’s theme, then I’m looking forward to reading what you’ll choose. Thanks for reading this top 5 series for today!
Do you like reading books with road trips on it? What is your favorite book that has road trips?
If you also want to jump in and do this series, here is the schedule for all the Saturdays of August.
8/31/19 – Books with a Road Trip
9/7/19 – Summer Reads
9/14/19 – Set in Space
8/21/19 – Over 500 Pages
8/28/19 – Books with Maps
Great post! I think I’ve only read Lightning Thief out of all these books, but they look really good! But I have heard of Starry Eyes before, so that does look good. And I’ve heard of The Knife of Never Letting Go a lot of times before but just haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. But I’m putting both those books on my tbr because they do look good.

I thought I really enjoyed road trip books but writing the post this week I realized just how few books with road trips I’ve actually read 😂 I definitely want to read more though. This has some interesting titles that I wouldn’t mind checking out! Great list 😊

So I absolutely enjoyed The Lightning Thief and really want to read more of Rick Riordan’s books! I think I read the first three in that series. As for Starry Eyes, I absolutely LOVED that book. I don’t typically read a ton of contemporary romances, but I gave that book 5 stars. I loved the survival theme and the banter. The book just made me laugh a ton.
Just so you know for Summer Reads I am leaving it super open because a lot of people (including me) don’t read the classic “summery” books like rom coms. You can do books you read this summer and loved, books set in summertime or books you’d like to read in the summer season. However you interpret it is totally fine!

That’s great to hear! Knowing that the books I picked would be a great read.
And for the next theme, I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you!

They are! My first by him was Release. It was part supernatural and part contemporary. But really great.

I also have a copy of his other book, but I’m not sure if it was still on my piles or it was missing.

Starry Eyes (and Jenn Bennett) is a favorite of mine. I loved everything about it – the characters, the glamping, the astronomy stuff, the parental subplot — all was good. I love JES, and You are Here was a solid book for me. It delivered those feels that I have grown to expect from Smith. One of my recent favorite road trip books is The Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody. I thought the upgrading was a cool plot line.
